I'm Fran, a 'maker' living on the beautiful West Australian coast with my husband, a half acre wayward but happy garden and a crazy assortment of vintage sewing paraphernalia.
I love making things. I truly just like to make stuff. Therefore I suppose I'm a 'maker'! I sew, knit, op-shop and upcycle. I get the most pleasure from making things that are not only useful and practical, but that also add a lovely homespun quality and beauty to our lives. Sometimes unsuspecting friends and family are lucky enough to reap the fruits of my enthusiasm too, like the time I was on a soap making bender.....and lets not forget those mandarins. Mandarin cake, mandarin marmalade, mandarin chutney, mandarin infused vinegar cleaner, dried mandarin peel fire lighters......and the list didn't stop there either.
I blog to connect with others who share a love of hand made and simple considered living.
Here you will find stories of nature, weekends and stitch. You will also find an occasional tutorial to help you discover the joy of slowing down and making by hand yourself.
I would like my blog to reflect an authentic life, a hand crafted life, a life filled with everyday moments, nourishing pastimes, slow stitch and beautiful friendships. A wabi sabi life.....interspersed of course with dark chocolate and red wine.
