Off the Air

I will be off the air for a few weeks.  We're heading to Coral Bay in the morning.

Where the beach is pristine.............

..............and always ready to welcome us

...........every sunset puts on a spectacular show

.............and every sunset is accompanied by the obligatory happy-hour
...........with much fun, frivolity, laughter and usually an over abundance of air-guitar playing.

John's Farm

This week our class took off to John's farm to put some of our newly acquired photography skills into action . Apart from the really bad directions, which got us lost for over an hour, we had just the best time.

Bouncing along in the back of the ute, heading toward some fun photo taking opportunities.

My poor leather handbag will never be the same..............neither will my bum.

I've never been this close to horses before.

They were so gentle.  It was completely mesmerising.
(Check out the reflection).

Back in the ute.........horizon line not straight (cardinal sin I believe).............numb bum.

"GET OFF MY TURF!"  I'd hate to be a bull.  It would be as boring as anything.

Comforts of home.

......and the sky always that amazing azure blue.

A great day.  I came home tired, with tummy muscles I didn't know I had, bits of hay where you wouldn't believe, heaps of unrecognisable photos and a camera lense covered in horse boogies.  Nice.

Peace Brother.

This was my photography homework.  Making sparkler pictures with a slow shutter speed.  Do you believe it?  How hard is my life?  Honestly.

Ok.  I admit it.  I'm a hippy from way back.

Spare Time.

So what do I do with all this spare time that I have?  Well yesterday I practised 'panning'.  Not very successfully either. The aim was to get a crisp foreground and blurred background with a slow shutter speed and panning at the same speed as the moving object - yes I'm still confusing myself (that I was successful at).

To get used to the movement, I spent a ridiculous amount of time hurtling the rolling pin along the kitchen bench and panning across at breakneck speed.  That old rolling pin sure can travel.

Yep, a bit of blur happening.

Once I had figured out what I thought were the right settings, out I went for a bit of clothesline spinning.  No decent shots but managed a few good whacks in the side of the head with a stiff beach towel.

Wait a minute......maybe that white peg might just be a little weeny bit in focus?

Finally I got up the courage to hit the streets with my camera.

The temperature reached 44 degrees yesterday.  All I got was some dirty looks and a burnt bum from trying to balance on the brick wall outside Good Sammies.  Oh, and a little bit of blur!

Capturing motion in photography.

This week at Tafe we are learning about capturing motion and movement.

This bike wasn't even going anywhere and I still managed to capture movement.  I think I still have a little bit to learn somehow.  Loving every minute of it though!

The good thing is, my shots can only improve..........maybe.

Almost time for Coral Bay.

It's almost time for our annual pilgrimage to Coral Bay.

Time to try on my bathers................try not to panic.........breathe..............breathe.

This is what greets me when I open my bathers drawer.

It helps, but only a little bit.
