It's been such a long time since I've written a blog post. Mainly I think because I've discovered Instagram and I now have a smart phone! I know.....amazing. The phone was a gift from my two daughters, along with personal phone lessons - very patiently delivered too.
I wanted to pop in here because Rhonda from Down to Earth has written a gorgeous blog post about my hand made face scrubbies. I truly feel honoured. She has also linked to our local refill shop, Triskele Bodycrafts run by Brooke who stocks all sorts of yummy body products.
Rhonda is the author of Down to Earth and The Simple Home and is a gentle voice bringing guidance and awareness to those wishing for a simpler life. Rhonda and the Down to Earth community have been instrumental in helping me to slow down, make from scratch, grow my own and consider my authenticity in the world.

Good morning Frances, I've found you via Rhonda at down to earth, I have been a follower of her blog for some years now and she is my inspiration for a slower simpler life too. Your washable face wipes I just love the idea, so you are another source of inspiration, I'm going to have a go at crocheting some in the left over dish cloth cotton I have, thank you for sharing such a wonderful idea, now I'm going to explore your blog and add you to my bookmarks, cheers Kat 57 year old girl from rural Gippsland Victoria.
Hi~I have wondered here from Rhonda's site. I'm not very internet savvy but I am very interested in making these. Can you tell me how many stitches for the opening and how many rounds? Did you use double or single stitches. Thank you so much. These would be very helpful for me.
Peace be with you,
Dee
Somehow I missed Rhonda’s post. Than you for the link Fran.
Your face wipes are lovely. 😊
Hi Kat. Thanks so much for your lovely comments. I was born in Gippsland! On a small dairy farm in Lang Lang but we left when I was just a toddler. I've used Bendigo Woollen Mills 8 ply cotton for my scrubbies, it's so lovely and soft.
Hi Dee. I've started with 5 chain, join in a circle, then eight stitches into the centre hole, two stitches into each of the eight and go from there. There are six rounds in all, increasing as you go to keep the work flat. I've used an eight ply cotton that is lovely and soft on the skin and all stitches are single. I'm glad you're inspired!
Hi Nil. Thank you so much, I'm glad you like them. I think I'll be kept busy for a while!
Hi Fran. Do you sell these at all Online? I’m in USA and can buy them on Etsy, however yours in the little jar are the best! So adorable!
Hi Tarryn. Thank you so much! I've just started making these for our local refill shop 'Triskele Bodycrafts'. The owner Brooke, does post orders out however all products haven't been fully loaded on to her website yet. I've checked with Brooke and the best way to order is to send her a message via her facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Triskele-Bodycrafts-158925888041116/ and she can converse with you and send you a Paypal Invoice. I'm new to all of this and don't have a web page or anything yet. Thanks so much for taking the time to drop by Tarryn.
Thank you, Fran. That’s perfect! Have a beautiful day! 😊
I grew up in Tasmania but moved to Canada when I married. I get thoroughly confused by the crochet terms used in the 2 countries, as they mean different things! However, I love this idea, so I need to get over my reluctance and start crocheting again. Great idea!
Hi Rosemary. Yes I get confused too with the different stitches. I'm more of a knitter, but a friend said to me that if a mistake is made with crochet, at least it's only one stitch at a time that has to come out, not a whole row!
