An Interim Journal.

I've finished with my current journal.  I'm not quite sure what type of journal I'd like for my next one.  Maybe something a little bigger?

Hmmmm.....what to do what to do.

I can't make up my mind.  Oh well, nothing new there....

Generally I like a small journal which fits into my handbag, but there's always so much crap in my handbag that the journal doesn't fit anyway.  It's all I can do to extricate my credit card without the innards of my bag exploding out onto the supermarket conveyor belt and happily bouncing their way towards someone else's groceries.

Perhaps I'll make an interim journal until I can make up my mind.

A 'Clayton's' journal.

You know, the journal you have when you don't have a journal.

I don't know how successful the little red book-plate on the front is going to be, especially if the journal is in and out of my handbag (and bouncing around the supermarket).  The book plate is pretty cute though and matches the retro cover fabric....so it's staying.

I'm still de-cluttering so have used papers and fabrics from my rather large stash.  *Rolls eyes*.

A Pair of socks.....finally.

It's been a while since I've posted, but I've been otherwise 'sockupied'.

Ohhhh....corny!

I finished these socks last night.  Big moment.  Truly.  I even took the loofah to my legs and followed up with some leg tan in preparation for the momentous photo shoot today.  Not that you can tell.  I think the leg tan just settled into the hair follicles........nice.

While I was fooling about outside playing with my socks, I was secretly hoping someone would poke their head over the fence and say -

"Where did you get those amazing socks?!"

Or perhaps "Wish I had some socks like that."

Or maybe even "Wow those socks really set off the garden don't they?"

See what happens when I leave the workforce?  There are just endless ways to entertain oneself.

Handmade wardrobe progress.

My personal challenge to op shop, up-cycle or hand make every item I purchase to wear for twelve months is not going too well.  So far I've created one pair of knickers and one sock.  I either have to get a wriggle on....or wash every evening and hop.

Don't ask me how I could possibly forget how to start the second sock.  I've got the instructions.  I even wrote them out myself in plain language so that I would easily understand.  I've undone and re-knitted the second sock three times so far. I keep ending up with a very very pointy toe, suitable only for a 60's style stiletto shoe.  God give me strength......

I am pretty excited about my new pattern drafting ruler arriving though.  Once I get a handle on how to 'drive' it, I'm sure that everything I make is actually going to fit.  Goody.

I cracked open the parcel on the weekend and gave it a whirl.

I decided not to use calico to make the first 'muslin'.  I'm too clever for that.  Let's just cut to the chase and make the dress straight away shall we?!  I felt so smug wandering through Spotlight choosing fabric for my new dress with a big wad of 'heavy duty tracing vilene' clamped under my arm....like I knew what I was doing.

So far so good.

Look at those markings...wow looks so professional...what a girl!

Now to cut out my dress.  I'm so in love with the funky fabric.

Woops.  I didn't buy enough fabric....whaaaat?!!

The hemline of this dress is going to be up to my crackola!

OMG.

So with my tail between my legs and my shoulders hunched, I slunk off to the op-shop and bought a doona cover for eight bucks to practice with first.

I still refused to buy calico to make the 'muslin'....what is with that stubborn streak?  Drives me mental.
